An Unprecedented Global Health and Healing Event

The World Tai Chi & Qigong Day of Deux-Montagnes, is an annual cultural event presented by two local instructors, Paul Duval and Pierre Barabé, in collaboration with the Community Services of Ville de Deux-Montagnes, and the 4 Korners Family Resource Center.

Held each year on the last Saturday of April, this year's worldwide cultural event will be on April 26th in Deux-Montagnes. 2008 marks its 10th year.

At 10 am beginning in New Zealand, and as the Earth turns, this event will unfold time zone by time zone across more than 60 countries spanning 5 continents, creating a healing wave of spectacular visual beauty, promoting calmness, health and wellness worldwide.

Everyone present that day will be able to witness a demonstration of empty hand Tai Chi Chuan Forms. In addition, and a first at this year's event, Tai Chi Sword and Tai Chi Saber Forms will also be demonstrated, allowing participants to witness the depth of this ancient Chinese art. They will be able to practice the forms or styles they know thus sharing their own experience, or initiate themselves to one or both of these ancient Chinese arts, part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, that are so beneficial to health by the means of free workshops that will be given on site. Those wishing to get a souvenir of that magnificent day will be able to do so by purchasing a commemorative t-shirt with all the proceeds going to a local community service organization: the 4 Korners Family Resource Center.

Tai Chi and Qigong are health technologies that evolved over several thousand years of research and practice in China and are now growing in popularity worldwide. They are used in hospitals, business, prisons, schools, and other institutions. Tai Chi and Qigong have been shown in research to reduce anxiety, depression, and chronic pain conditions. They boost the immune system, improve respiratory function, dramatically improve balance, coordination and concentration, provide cardiovascular benefits, provide powerful stress management tools, and slow aspects of the aging process.

The Deux-Montagnes event will start at 10:00 a.m. and will be held at Mountainview Elementary School located at 2001 Guy Street in Deux-Montagnes, at the corner of 20th Avenue, which is accessible by the 640 Highway and the Montreal/Deux-Montagnes commuter train terminal.
